Stole from Benefactor
Dominion Sitci ai Service Masterton, February 2. When two men called at a Castlepoint county workman’s tent at Whakataki last week they were welcomed and given lunch. Later, during the workman’s absence, a razor and strop were stolen from his tent, and on being approached by the police the following day one of the two men. John Curry, admitted that he had taken the strop. “It was rather a mean trick to do after being befriended.” remarked Mr. J. Miller, S.M., when Curry appeared before him in the Masterton Magistrate’s Court this morning. Curry was convicted and fined £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment. The second man, William George Harris, was charged with the theft, of the razor, and was also charged with the theft of £lO at Wairoa two years ago. He was remanded until Thursday.
