SCHOOLS REOPEN
Rush on Bookshops
Primary schools in the Hutt Valley opened yesterday after the summer holidays, all schools showing an increased attendance over last year. When the schools closed at the end of the day it seemed that all the children made off post haste to the booksellers to buy their lesson books and exercise books, and the numerous other things required by the present-day pupil. So great were the crowds of children in most of the booksellers’ shops that it was next to impossible for other customers to get in to be served.
