New Move in Argentine / THREAT TO RETAILERS (Ree. January 26, 8 p.m.) Buenos Aires, January 25. The Government, endeavouring to lower the cost of living, has reduced the price of bread from the equivalent of three and a half to two cents a pound in the public markets. 1 It is announced that a Government bureau will sell 250,000 pounds of bread daily to make the reduction available to more people. The Government also is advocating a plan to sell all meat through a Government bureau, allowing retail butchers a profit of only one cent a pound.
