PIONEER EFFORT

Educational Control UNIFICATION PROPOSAL By Telegraph.—Press Association Nelson, December 10. As arranged by the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, Mr. A. Bell, assistant director of education, and Mr. W. La Trobe, superintendent of Technical education, are in Nelson for the purpose of conferring with representatives of the Nelson College and Nelson Technical School Boards in regard to the proposed unification of control. The Minister in a telegram states: “You know my aim is to have complete unification of control, toward which phase the conference should mark an important step, and if this can be brought about Nelson would be the first centre to come into line with the recommendation contained in the report. Technical education in Nelson must be placed on a sound footing, and I "believe that we can help the college to more adequately meet the demands of the times for a more comprehensive course.”
