TEACHERS FAREWELLED

Three retiring school teachers were entertained to morning tea, and farewelled by the Wellington Education Board yesterday. They were: Miss Ethel Williams, 38i years’ service at Mount Cook, Island Bay, Masterton, the Hutt District schools, and Wellington Girls’ College. Miss Enid Williams, 30 years’ service, at The Terrace, Kaitara. Wadestown, Kilbirnie, and Brooklyn Schools; and Mrs. Rosann Woodley, 23| years’ service, Pahiatua 3J years, and after that sole teacher at Mangahao and Mikimiki. . The chairman, Mr. T. Forsyth, said that Mrs. Woodley had spent 23J years in the country. She had known the strenuousness of isolation of the country teacher. 'After paying tribute to the work of Misses Williams he wished them a pleasant trip abroad. Mr. G. E- Stewart, secretary of the board, Mr. J. W. Mcllraith, senior inspector and Messrs. A. Donald and A. Williams also spoke in appreciation of their work.
