GREATER SERVICE

Wellington Automobile Club

The immediate appointment of an additional service officer was authorised at a meeting last evening- of the executive of the Wellington Automobile Club. Tne chairman, Mr. E. A. Batt, in proposing the appointment, said that the service officers at present employed by the club had performed excellent work and were largely responsible for the increase in membership that had taken place. During the last year, members of the club had realised more than ever that there was a service to be had. The present service men were all on the same footing, and it was suggested that coincident with the new appointment man should be promoted to the position of chief service officer. He would tour the district—perhaps in a motor-car — and collect information that would be of value to the dub. The service at present was not sufficient'nnd even more than the one additional officer should be appointed, but it was advisable to proceed cautiously. The cost of the extra officer would be £264 per annum, plus the cost of his equipment. \ < With the new appointment the club will have four officers on the road.
