The Department of Commerce has announced that the value of the United States foreign trade for the first ten mouths of 1939 declined by over two billion dollars, on both imports and exports, below the like period for 1929 when the total figure was 8.123,271,000 compared with 5,928,810,000 for 1930. The United States exports to Aus tralia for the first ten months of 1929 totalled 163,084,000 dollars. In 1930 they were 96,124,000. Imports from Australia for the same period of 1929 totalled 51.000,000. In 1930 they wen 29.000,000 dollars. It Is announced that the Soviet alone showed increased purchases of American goods. The sales also in creased slightly. Imports from and ex ports to Britain and Canada decreased sharply.
