BIG RELIEF FUND
U.S. Drought Conditions SENATE UNANIMOUS Washington, December 7. All semblance of bi-partisan Congressional accord with President Hoover vanished when the Senate Agricultural Committee unanimously approved of a sixty million dollar drought relief programme in disregard of a twenty-five million dollar Administration proposal. Senator McNary, Chairman of the Committee, announced that he would report the sixty millions measure to the Senate on December 8 for prompt passage. Meanwhile it is foreseen that the pas sage of this and other contemplated Bills will apparently increase the year’s Treasury deficit from 180 mil lion dollars, as contemplated in Brest dent Hoover’s Budget, to 330 millions.
