The weather and wicket were perfect for the resumption of the match, West Indies v. South Australia. The attendance, however, was meagre. Requiring 37 runs to save an Innings defeat, the Indians were very scratchy. Grimmett completely beat Constantine after he had scored three. Bartlett, who had been batting solidly, was caught at mid-off. His innings lasted 54 minutes, and his 33 Included three fours.
Francis was lucky to escape when he had scored four. Wall dropping him at mid-on. He showed his appreciation by late-cutting Waite to the fence. Griffiths miss-hit his first ball from Lees and was smartly taken by Walker. The innings, which had occupied 152 minutes, ended for 162.
Requiring four runs to win. South Australia secured these in eight min utes without the loss of a wicket and von by ten wickets. Details: In the first innings West Indies made 171. South Australian replied with 430

Hendren remained in Johannesburg, and Sandham, Goddard, and Duckworth are all casualties, thus the remainder were compelled to play though ill from influenza. Marylebone scored 278 (Wyatt 78, Chapman 48). These two added 50 runs in 50 minutes. O’Riley took three wickets for 49 runs, Tomlinson five for 106. Rhodesia in the first innings have lost no wickets for 1 run, stumps being drawn owing to the light failing.
