VISIT TO FRANCE
Prime Minister’s Party TOUR OF BATTLEFIELDS (Rec. December 8, 8 p.m.) Paris, December 7. The Prime Minister of New Zealand, the lit. Hon. G. W. Forbes, and his party spent last night at Ypres. They heard the Last Post sounded at the Menin Gate. They visited Messines and Gravenstafel, where the New Zealanders distinguished themselves, and also saw the cemeteries and Ploegsteert memorial. LONDON’S FAREWELL London, December 7. A crowd of New Zealanders and others, led by Sir Thomas Wilford (High Commissioner), cheered thrice three times as the Kt. lion. G. \V. Forbes. Sir Thomas Sidey, their wives and staff, departed for France from Victoria Station. Those present included Mr. J. H Thomas, Sir Maurice Hankey. Sir Harry Batterbee, Sir Edward Harding. Lieut.Colonel H. V. B. de Satge, and Mr. Vincent, representing Mr. Ramsay MacDonald.
