Ministerial. The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Acting-Prime Minister, who has spent a fortnight at his home at Dannevirke recovering from the effects of an illness, will return to Wellington to-day to resume his official duties at Parliament House. The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, arrived in Auckland yesterday. Mr. Stallworthy will leave Auckland this evening for Patea, where he will officiate at the opening of . several public institutions. Going to Hamilton on Thursday, Mr. Stallworthy will open a new maternity hospital and. a school dental clinic, leaving for Wellington in the evening.

The Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGeneral, will arrive in Wellington this morning. He expects to return to Auckland toward the end of the week. The Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Labour, will visit Matamata on Friday, nnd is expected to be in Auckland on Saturday on business connected with the Unemployment Board. The Hon. W. A. Veitch. Minister of Railways, returned to Wellington last evening from a visit to Wanganui.

The Hon. A. J. Murdoch, Minister of Agriculture, arrived from the north yesterday, and he left for Invercargill last evening to attend the agricultural and pastoral show there. He is expected to return to Wellington about Friday. The Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, who returned to Wellington on Saturday, left for Auckland by train last evening. He will confer with the Auckland Education Board to-day, and receive deputations. He will open the new Owairaka School this afternoon. A further conference with educational authorities has been arranged for to-morrow morning, and the Minister will visit schools in the district in the afternoon. In the evening he will attend the breaking-up ceremony at the Seddon Memorial Technical College. On Thursday morning the Minister will leave for Te Awnmutu. where he will open a new school. He is to attend the prizegiving at the Napier Boys’ High School on Friday, and he will return to Wellington on Saturday.

Mr. A. G. Menzies, of Auckland, is at the Royal Oak Hotel. Sir Francis Bell was a passenger by the AVahine on her trip to Lyttelton last night.

Mr. AV. V. Warren is a New Guinea visitor who is staying at the Royal Oak Hotel.

Major-General H. J. P. Browne and Mrs. Browne went south by last night’s ferry steamer. Professor G. S. Peren, of Massey College, Palmerston North, is at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr. N. A. (Houston. Kelburn, a student at Otago University, has taken his B.D.S. degree. Mr. D. K. Guy. of Palmerston North, Mr. R. Lilburne, Wanganui, and Mr. T. A. Duncan, Hunterville, are at the Royal Oak Hotel.

Mr. D. M. Rodie, commercial manager of the railways, went to the South Island last night. He expected to return to Wellington on Friday.

Mr. C. Ashcroft Edwards has been reelected president of the British Manufacturers’ Association, and Messrs. C. W. Salmon and C. AV. Budd vice-presi-dents. Sir Alexander Roberts was elected chairman of the New Zealand Golf Association at a meeting last evening, and Mr. A. D. Duncan was appointed vicechairman, Mr. C. R. Stevens, who recently resigned from the sub-managership of Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains, Ltd., has accepted the position of controlling manager of the D.S.C., Dannevirke. Mr. L. Clare, of Gisborne, Mr. A. N. M. Wright and Mr. L. T. Speechley, Palmerston North, Mr. T. J. Halliburton and Mr. AV. Flavell, Christchurch, Mr. J H Elliot, Napier, Mr. L. R. Curtis, Stratford, and Mr. R. E. Sockell, Auckland, are at the Grand Hotel.

Lord Baruby went to the South Island last night, and will visit the Waitaki High School and hydro-electric power station to-day. arriving at Dunedin tonight. He will confer with Dunedin business men to-morrow’ nnd attend the Christchurch wool sales on Friday, returning to Wellington on Saturday or Sunday, and going by Sunday night’s Limited express to Auckland.
