VISITING ARTIST
Miss Lee Returns Having met. with considerable success in England, Miss Myrtle Lee, granddaughter of John Gully, the artist, has returned to Wellington for a short visit after 20 years’ absence from New Zealand. She is to open an exhibition of watercolours, etchings, and craft productions on Wednesday. -j To an interviewer Miss Lee said that the artist in England was having a hard time. Not nearly so many pictures were being bought, and it was staggering to see really good work ou the pavements, executed'by artists who were really down and out. There were not the opportunities now for artists, who had to make both ends meet by doing a little teaching. Art in England, however, was rebelling against the Early Victorian manner, and Miss Dee considered the movement r healthy one. _
