WEEK-END GOLF
Shandon Club Many golfers took advantage of the Shandon club’s summer programme over the week-end. H. Black, amateur champion of New Zealand, who was among the visitors, expressed surprise at the progress which had been made, and the excellent playing conditions of the links. Playing round in a four-ball, the amateur champion was well down to bogey figures. The best scores handed in for Saturday’s stroke competition were: C. L. Bishop, 89 —24—65 ; and F. C. Denz, 85 —14—71. J. S. Hunter was in fine form on the Shandon links yesterday, completing the course in 76. Wellington Club The competition to decide the championship of the Wellington Golf Club was continued on the Heretaunga links over the week-end. A, D. S. Duncan beat J. W. Ward and D. O. Whyte beat J. B. Mac Ewan.
