A Surfing Occasion.— Bathers and spectators at Lyall Bay on Saturday, when the new club-house of the Maranui Life-Saving and Surfing Club was opened by the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. M. F. Luckie. There was a representative gathering present, including the Minister of Education, the Hon. H. Atmore, who presented the Royal Humane Society's diplomas to successful members of the club. The building is said to be the largest of its land in New Zealand, and has a special watch-tower, from which bathers who get into difficulties may be observed immediately. L Wallace, photo.
