Gerrand will ride Blimp, Kahikatoa, Laconic, Glider and Hawkshaw. ♦ » » The first raee at. Woodville to-morrow and on Wednesday is timed to start, about 11.43 a.m. Trentham Track. The weather was heavily overcast during training operations on Saturday morning, but it was fine and cool, conditions being ideal for galloping, with the tracks in firstclass order. The middle of the trial grass was open for fast work. Taura Lad and Invite were the first out, and ran half a mile in 50 2-ssec. Marjoram was going better than Baineses at the end Of six furlongs in linin. 17 2-5 sec., and could have done faster time. The last half was run in 51 3-ssec. Marjoram has improved, and is working nicely. He will probably make a trip to Dunedin during the holidays. Hunting Call was doing it much better than Mythology at the end of half-a-mlle in Msec. This was their first sprint since racing at Levin. They will race next at Tauherenikau. Auckland Cup Gallop.

Concentrate, Historic and Staghunter ran a mile. They kept together for the first five furlongs, Historic on the inner, Concentrate in the middle, and Stagliunter on the outer. They ran the first half-mile in Blsee., and the first five furlongs in Imin, 3 3-ssee. Historic then began to drop out, but tho other pair kept going, and were both doing it well at the finish in Imin. 42}see. Historic was four lengths back, but he could have been much closer. They ran tho last six in Imin. 18sec. It was a really good gallop. Concentrate wont very well, and was doing it better than Staghunter at the finish, but the latter was also pleasing. Historic’s holiday itinerary will not be decided upon until the Manawatu weights are declared. Saltpot finished well clear of Shootist at the end of five furlongs in Imin. fisee., the last half mile in 51Jsec. Saltpot shaped nicely. He will race at Manawatu. Habit finished four or five lengths in front of Rational II at the end of three furlongs on the tan in 39sec. Habit has freshened up nicely since the New Zealand Cup meeting. Intruder aud Zephyrus ran six in Imin. IGJsee., and could not have done much better. Eminent and Caught were not extended, doing nice work. Eminent did sixfurlongs In Imin. 22sec., and Caught four in COisee. • Rothen ran four furlongs well within himself, the last three furlongs in 38lsec. He looks well. Dolomite and Duellona finished clear of Royal Game at the end of seven furlongs in Imin. 301 sec. Both were doing it well. The last half-mile took Sljsec. On the way Dolomite works his public failures are heartbreaking to his connections.

Form Looks Good. Lady Pam, Ephialtes and Sir Limond ran a mile, Sir Limond beginuing to drop behind at the end of the first half, run m 53sec. Lady Pam and Ephialtes finished on together in Imin. 4Csec., both halves thus being run in the same time.. Lady Pam was doing it better at the finish, but considering that Ephialtes is only just out of maiden class, it was an excellent effort on his part, especially as he could have done a little better. Sir Limond was not so far away as to make his gallop poor cither. „ . . Crash finished In frout of Oral at th. end of the fastest half-mile of the morning, 48 3-ssec. Crash looks well, and he was running strongly at the finish. Black Mint led Dainty Ways at the end of a useful six furlongs in Imin. 20see.

Smart Youngsters. Acorn and Saltspray ran three furlongs in 36sec. Acorn shaped very smartly, and Saltspray also went pleasingly. Joie de Vai finished in front of Tobacco Land at the end of six furlongs in Imin. Ifijsec, the last half in Blsee. Joie de Vai shaped in improving style, and Tobacco Land’s showing was quite satisfactory. Cape Gold and Maritime ran the last half-mile of their work on the two-year-old track in 53sec. . Flower took 39sec. for three furlongs. Gesture, St. Roger, and Oratorian finished with very little between them at the end of four furlongs in 49 4-ssec. They .went steadily over the first furlong, which took 14sec. All finished very nicely, and it was a pleasing effort on the part of the two-year-olds, especially Oratorian, who is not at all tuned up.

F In order to commemorate bls u 0 years connection with the totalisator at the Rangitikei Racing Club’s meetings, Mr. George Spriggins, of Wanganui, has given a asolid silver tea and coffee service and tray as a trophy, which Will be attached to the Hack Cup.
