AGED NEEDY

Christmas Party Given

A happy evening was spent by the residents of the Home for Aged Needy, Newtown, on Tuesday, when a Christmas party was given by Mrs. Wharton. A Christmas tree was provided, laden with gifts. The special hall was gaily decorated with balloons and streamers by the hostess, fancy caps were worn, and a dainty supper was dispensed; charming bouquets were presented to the matron, Mrs. E. Mac Kay, and Mrs. Lancaster. A large Christmas cake was brought in and a neat speech was given by Mrs. T. Duncan, and was then cut and distributed. Miss Areta Wharton was responsible for the programme, given by her pupils, which was greatly appreciated. The performers were: Little Shirley McClellan, Nellie Brinsdon, Toni Duncan, Betty Cullen, and Arthur Roberts. Piano solos, songs, etc., were also given by Miss'K. Brailsford, Hazel Clark, and Merle Cullen. A quartette party, Messrs. J. Davidson, P. Wright, W. Scott, and F. Anderson, provided items and banjo solos. Votes of thanks were accorded to all taking part.
