The Karamea left Gladstone last Thursday morning and if she arrives at Auckland on time will have made another fast passage, steaming the 1490 miles in 4 days 3 hours, an average of slightly over 15 knots. The Karamea holds the record from Wellington to London, which she established earlier this year. She left Wellington on the afternoon of July 22 and reached London on the morning of August 23, the elapsed time being 32 days 4 hours 22 minutes, and her actual "steaming” time 31 days 12 hours 4 minutes, at au average speed of just under 15 knots. The Karamea will complete her homeward loading at New Plymouth, Napier, Wellington and Lyttelton.
