HUTT ROAD WIDENING
Petone’s Contribution The Petone Borough Council has been notified by the Wellington Town Clerk of the amount that will be payable by it to the Wellington City and Suburban Highways Board in connection with the proposed widening of the Hutt Road from Thorndoii to Ngahauranga. The amount that Petone will have to pay is £393 16s 9d, being IS per cent, of the estimated cost of £2lBB. While it is not clearly stated it is possible this is in addition to the council’s ordinary contribution of £lBO. making a total of £570 16s 9d. There wns every possibility that bad not legislation been effected the cost to the borough would have been greater. Although the work is to be done this financial year, payment of Petone’s proportion will not. by agreement, bp made until early in next financial year, no provision, of course, being made for it in this year’s estimates.
