MEMORY HONOURED

Late Mr. Massey WREATH FROM CANADA “In memory of an honoured friend and fellow-citizen of the Empire,” a wreath was laid on the tomb of the late William Ferguson Massey, former Prime Minister oi the Dominion, yesterday morning by Mr.’T. M. Henderson, of Vancouver, 8.C., a retired wholesale" drug merchant, who is making his third visit to New Zealand in the interests of his health. The wreath was laid on behalf of the Canadian Club of Vancouver, of which Mr., Henderson is a member, and it is also intended that a similar wreath shall be placed on the grave of the late Sir Joseph Ward at the earliest opportunity. Mr. Massey was entertained by the Canadian Club when he was passing through Canada, as was Mr. Forbes. “Not only are we honouring the memory of these two statesmen in . sending" the wreaths,” said Mr. Henderson, “but we hope that it may be regarded as a friendly gesture between the sister Dominions, and will help to strengthen further the bonds of Empire.” Mr. Henderson was accompanied on his mission by Mr. A. W. Mulligan, representing the Prime Minister; Mr. G. P. Newton, Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs; "Mr. P. J. Kelleher, Assistant Under-Seeretary of Internal Affairs; and the Rev. David Calder. The wreath was laid in silence by Mr. Henderson, while the others respectfully stood around with bowed heads. After the ceremony the party descended into the mausoleum, and the wreath was laid near the casket.
