KORO KORO ROAD
More Men Taken On Considerable satisfaction was expressed yesterday by'the Ma-or of letone, Mr D. McKenzie, at the efforts being made by the Public Works Department to absorb all the married men at unemployed in the borough on the Koro Koro hill road. On Thursday when a “Dominion” reporter inspected the works there were fifty men employed, yesterday m 7 McKenzie said the engineer in charge of the work, Mr. Hansen, had informed him that fifteen more men would be taken on to-day (Saturday), and that on Tuesday probably five or ten men would be put on. Next week, also, twenty-five single men are to be selected for work in Wanganui What, however, gives Mr. McKenzie the greatest pleasure is the possibility that all the married men in Petone who cannot be found work in any of the industries will possibly be absorbed on the Koro Koro work. Further than that there is every possibility that the men engaged on the work will be kept there at least until Christmas.
