The Junior Dominion
Dear Little People,— Qnly two more weeks before the holidays begin! It doesn’t seem a year since the adventures of last Christmas, does it? I hope the showers will take themselves off soon, so that you will be able to have long, sunny days at the seaside, or picnicking in the bush, and come back to town as brown as berries. The other day, I saw a tremendously exciting game being played on the sands. It looked so inviting that I learned how to play it so that I could tell you about it. This game can be played by any even number of children. They must first divide themselves into two equal-numbered “sides." The boys of the party now dig two shallow holes in the sand—about two yards or so apart. Meanwhile, the girls can be making “ammunition"—about a dozen bullets made of soft paper rolled into balls. Each side has the same quantity. Someone says “Go!” And then the fun begins. Each side tosses as many bullets as possible into the opposing camp, at the same time stopping the enemies’. bullets from entering their own camp. When ammunition is exhausted, the camp showing the fewest bullets is declared the victor. You can imagine how exciting this gamp can be, especially if two or three beach dogs scamper off joyfully with the ammunition! Try this game next time you go to the beach. I am sure you will enjoy it.-.—KIWI.
