Bennett, in Iris annual report, says the residents are alarmed at the falling-off of the tourist traffic, especially from New Zealand, Owing to the withdrawal of the steamer Maui pomare. However, it is hoped to have the service restored in part at least. Norfolk Island developed amazingly during the past five years. The imports increased from £lB,OOO to £50,000 pet year, and the exports from £6OOO to £35,000. Whereas there was only one motorcar on the island two years ago, there are now 1000.
