School Leaving Age POSTPONEMENT DECISION London, November 25. At a meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party the Minister of Education, Sir Charles Trevelyan, announced that the Government had decided to postpone the operation of the Education Bill, which extends the schoolleaving age from 14 to 15, from April next to September, 1932. Sir Charles Trevelyan said that he was prepared under protest to accept the postponement of the Bill to September, 1932, and also certain suggestions regarding the powers of local authorities In respect of maintenance grants. When the Bill came before the House of Commons an amendment by Lord Eustace Percy (Con.), deleting the whole sub-section dealing with the maintenance allowance, was rejected by 282 votes to 179.
