OBITUARY

Mr. C. J. Gill The death occurred at Palmerston North recently of Mr. Christopher J. Gill, after an illness of some mouths. The lute Mr. Gill was born in BishopAuckland, County, Durham, England, 71 years ago, and arrived at Wellington with his wife and son in 1904. After six months’ residence at Day’s Bay the family came to Palmerston North, remaining there ever since. Mr. Gill possessed., a wide knowledge of building and engineering, and was a locksmith by trade. For some time be was employed by the Wanganui Education Board as a'teacher of building construction at the Palmerston North old Technical School, also the original Boys' High School. Later he was appointed inspector of weights and measures. About 12 years ago be commenced business in Palmerston North as C. .1. Gill and Son. There is a widow and one son. Mrs. Gill was actively associated with the Palmer- i ston North Hospital Board years ago. and later a prominent worker in the St. John Ambulance Association.
