GREAT ARCH FOUND

Link With Biblical Times .■ i ■ CLOSE TO “WAILING WALL” Jerusalem, November 24. A great arch connected with Biblical times, and supposed to be “the causeway of the going up.” mentioned in I Chron. xxvi. 16, has been discovered during repairs to the drainage canal in the old city under the synagogue close to the “Wailing Wall." ’ ’m arch belongs to a series which in Jewish times supported a street leading from the temple area to the lipper city. Sixteen yards below the floor level of the synagogue there has also been found a pool, believed to be the pool of Bnra .. so named after the legendary steed of the prophet Mahomet, who is supposed to have tethered the animal to the spot before his miraculous journey to Heaven. David, in his old age. made Solomon king, and the sons of Aaron were divided by lot into 24 orders. David and the captains of the host separated the singers to the service of the sons of Asaph and of Tiernan and of Juduthun. The gates of the city were decided by lot among the porters, and Chronicles (26:1G) states that “To Shuppiin and Hosah the lot came forth westward with the gate of Shallecheth. by the causeway of the going up.”
