An English dirt-track rider who is due to visit New Zealand is Burton, who has the reputation of riding “flat-out" from start to finish of every race. It is probable that Harold Stevens, the Australian-dirt-track' rider, who. recently returned to Australia after competing for a seasou iu England, will ride in New Zealand this season. Fay Taylour, the English girl who visited New Zealand last season, has been riding in Germany recently with marked success. , ■, According to reports trom Palmerston North, there is every possibility of a dirttrack being established iu that city. It will be laid down on tlie showgrounds, and meetings will be held on Wednesday evenings. , , .. J, Bishop, the visiting Australian rider, did well in tho Australian-New Zealand Big Nine invitation scratch race at Kilbirnie Stadium on Saturday nigim, He found 'll formidable opponent'in 1. McGhee, the Wellington rider, who was in splendid farm.. C. Anderson, the oilier Australian rider, did not have much luck in this race. He got into the final, but did not do tiny good. AndtTSQii wits unlucky also in the Miramar Handicap, which was won by W, Vtggars, witli whom McGhee had a most exciting race. A team of riders from Auckland is to visit Wellington curly next month, for the first of the inter-track contests. Nine races are to be held, there being six riders in a team, nnd four to each heat.
