CRAFT TEACHERS
Classification Scheme “WRONG ASSESSMENT” The hope that no attempt would be made to put the proposed scheme of classification of teachers into force until it had been greatly modified was expressed by the director, Mr. J. 11. Howell, at a meeting of the Technical College Board of Governors last evening. Mr. Howell said that the proposals of the department were considered by the staff at a meeting recently. Tlie feeling of the staff was that the system of classification which had been proposed might be considered satisfactory for teachers of academic subjects in post-primary schools, for primary school teachers, and for manual training teachers, as distinct from craft teachers, in primary or postprimary schools. It was felt, however, that in the case of teachers in technology who had not obtained a degree, injustice might be done; for the status of such teachers was left to the discretion of the Director of Education.
