Stalin, interviewed, declared that bourgeois journalists were serving their employers badly by lying, and were only raising false hopes of the Soviet’s collapse. He recalled that in earlier days, according to the foreign Press, Lenin nnd Trotsky were continually arresting ono another. “We were all killed and resurrected regularly," he said. “I woulil have thought the I’ress would learn something after all .these years.” Stalin incidentally declared that for years Russia would absorb all that she could manufacture as well as many imports, but within two years she would bo the world’s largest grainproducing country. All the talk of exporting below cost and of forced labour was sheer nonsense. According to a London message, cabled on Saturday, reports of sensational events in Russia continue to circulate throughout the Continent. It had been even reported that Stalin, whose position as head of the Political Bureau, makes him virtual dictator of Russia, had been assassinated. Tiie “New York Herald-Tribune’s” Washington correspondent says that all Russian Soviet goods will have to face a ban in proposals drafted for the Treasury Department, under which, upon the complaint of any citizen, an embargo would be placed against the shipment of such goods with the production of a Consular invoice as the conditions for their entrance. As the United States has no Consular representation in Russia, this would assure their exclusion.
