WAITAKI SCHEME
No Detailed Report A full report on the Wuitaki hydroelectric scheme, which is being undertaken by the Public Works Department to provide power for Canterbury, will not be obtained by the Government from Professor P-. G. Hornell, the Swedish expert who recently visited New Zealand. This statement was made yesterday by the Minister of Public Works, Hon. W, B. Taverner. The Minister said Professor Hornell had visited Waitnki, but owing to the necessity of his enrly return to Sweden insufficient time was given for (he nre narnlion by him of a full report on 'he scheme. IL- had discussed the scheme with Professor Hornell before he wont to Waituki. and the discussions had been continued after his return. The question of obtaining a detailed report had been considered by Cabinet, but It had been decided not to go anj furthest 1
