DEVONIAN SOCIETY
Successful First Year The Wellington Devonian Society held its annual meeting last evening. Mr. R. E. Manley, presided over a good attendance. The report stated that during the year communication was set up witii Mr. W. Watson, editor of the “Devon and Exeter Gazette,” and he had put the society in touch with the London Devonian Society and the secretary and manager of the Devonian Year Book. The society hud affiliated with the London Devonian Association and it was felt that this was a step in the right direction. The committee placed on record its great appreciation of those who had helped to make the social evenings arranged by the society a success The balance-sheet showed that in its initial year the society had managed to pay its way and carry forward a small balance. This was considered satisfactory in view of the fact that several nonrecurrent items were included in the expenditure. Captain Hale-Munro paid a tribute to the efforts of the chairman, Mr. Manley, and the secretary, Miss Paris. It was decided to hold bi-monthly dances and socials. The meeting agreed to hold a dinner of Devonian delicacies on Lady Day next, March 25. A cheque was presented to Miss Paris in recognition of her sterling work as secretary of the society during the past year. The following officers were elected : — President. Mr. R. E Manley ; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. J. B. Brmsden and F. J. W. Fear; treasurer, Mr. W. E. Jeffries; auditor, Mr. W. V. Jones: secretary. Miss C. Paris; committee, Mrs. J. Vernon. Mrs. J.
