GREYMOUTH BAR

Again Unworkable The bar at Greymouth was unworkable over the week-end and seven Union Company vessels were bar-bound there yesterday, five inside and two outside the port. Those inside were the Kahika and Kaimai loaded for Wellington, the Kartigi for Auckland, Kalingo for Melbourne and Karamea for Westport, Napier and A uckland. The Kalmiro and Kiwitea, both to load for Auckland, were unable to enter the port. It Is hoped that at least some of the ships will be able to work the bar on this morning’s tide. MAHANA’S DEPARTURE. The Shaw, Savill Company advise that the Mahana Is now to sail finally from Wellington at daybreak on Thursday for London, via the Panama Canal. ROTORUA DELAYED. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice from Suva that their liner Rotorua, which arrived there last Friday from London and Southampton, has been unable to berth owing to the stormy weather. The date of the vessel’s departure from Suva for Wellington is therefore not yet certain. PORT HUON LEAVES COLON. The C. & D. Line has received cabled advice that their motor-ship Port Huon, en route from London to Auckland and Wellington, left Colon on Saturday. She is due at Auckland on December 12, and at Wellington about a week later. ULIMAROA DUB NOON TO-DAY. The Huddart-Parker Company has received a wireless message from the Ulimaroa, en route from Sydney to Wellington, reporting that she has been delayed by heavy weather and expects to arrive In the stream at noon to-day. She will berth about 1.30 p.m. at No. 2 Queen’s Wharf. The Ulimaroa is timed to leave again at noon on Friday on the return trip to Sydney. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Captain I. Laird is in command of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Turakina, due at Wellington on Saturday from Liverpool, via Auckland, and his officers are: Chief, Mr. B. Evans; second, Mr. H. Smith, third, Mr. A. Bamforth; fourth, Mr. J. Gould; wireless operator, Mr. W. Hallett; chief engineer, Mr. A. Drummond; second, Mr. E. Grantham; third, Mr. P. Woodall; fourth, Mr. H. Gibson; fifth, Mr. Twist; sixth, Mr. R. Blbby; seventh, Mr. H. Brooks; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr. F. Gales; second, Mr. G. Flaxman; steward-in-charge, Mr. F. W. Good. Mr. C. J. McPherson has Joined the Manama as chief engineer in place of Mr. H. McDougall. • Mr. A. Alexander has Joined the Katoa as 4th engineer, relieving Mr. J. Summers for holiday and exam. C. & D. LINE LOADINGS. The C. & D. Line steamer Port Hunter is to commence her homeward loading at New Plymouth on December 7, and will subsequently complete at Wanganui, Napier, and Wellington, clearing this port finally on December 24 for London via the Panama Canal. The Port Wellington is due at Auckland' on December 18 from Launceston to commence her homeward loading, and will complete at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers, clearing the last-named port finally on January 7 for London via the Panama. Canal. The motor-ship Port Huon is to commence her homeward loading at Wanganui on December 21, proceeding thence to New Plymouth, Auckland, Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington to fill up. She is scheduled to clear this port finally on January 21 for London via the Panama Canal. FEDERAL CO. LOADING. The Federal Comapny advise that the Turakina is to commence her homeward loading at Port Chalmers on December 6. She will subsequently load at Bluff, New Plymouth, Wellington, and Auckland. The vessel is due hero on December 19, and Is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on December 30 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, Mauchester, and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. N.Z.S. CO. LOADINGS. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Federal steamer Westmoreland is to commence her homeward loading at Wanganui on December 1. She will subsequently load at Lyttelton, Gisborne, Walkokopu, Napier, and Wellington, and is scheduled to clear this port finally on December 20 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. The liner Rotorua is to commence her homeward loading at Napier about December 12. She will complete at Tokomaru Bay, Wellington, Bluff, and Port Chalmers. The vessel Is due at Wellington on December 22, and is scheduled to clear Port Chalmers finally on January ’ for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. . The liner Remuera is to commence her homeward loading at Auckland about December 8, and will subsequently complete at Napier, Lyttelton. Timaru, and Wellington. She is due here on January 1, and is scheduled to clear this port finally on January 3 for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. THE WESTMORELAND. The Federal steamer Westmoreland, which arrived at Wellington on Sunday morning from New York, via Auckland, is to tranship her Lyttelton and Dunedin cargo at Wellington, and will remain here until Sunday to enable repairs to be made to her engines. The trouble, which it Is understood includes the stripping of some of the blades of her port turbine, developed soon after she left New York, and the vessel steamed at reduced speed on most of her run from that port to Auckland. The trouble is not of a serious nature, and she is expected to leave here on Sunday for Wanganui to commence her homeward loading. ATHELQUEEN REPORTS. The Union Company has received a wireless message from their chartered tanker Athelqueen, en route from San Pedro to Wellington with bulk fuel-oil, reporting that she expects to reach this port next Sunday.
