WADESTOWN PROGRESS
Children’s Recreation Area In response to representations by the Wadestown and Highland Park Progressive Association, the City Council has agreed to make available for a children's play area the land at the foot of Marquis Street, just beyond the Wadestown tram terminus. Adjoining this section is one belonging to the Post and Telegraph Department, and part of this can be acquired if sufficient: funds are available. It is also proposed, when circumstances permit, to acquire and equip other areas of land in the district. The equipment for the land at Marquis .Street will cost a considerable sum, and the district is at present being canvassed in an effort to raise £5OO for this purpose,' aud for the purchase of additional land. It is anticipated that any money thus raised up to £l5O will be subsidised £1 for £1 out of the Shirtcliffe Fund. During the last year an association was formed for the express purpose of carrying out these objects, and this body has been working in close co-operation with the committee of the progressive association.
