WAYWARD GIRLS
Magistrate Blames Parents MANY THEFT CHARGES By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, November 22. “If I could I would visit the sins of these girls upon their parents. If it was in my power to punish them I believe I should.” So said the magistrate, Mr. Mosley, in the Children’s Court this morning, when four young girls faced nearly forty charges of theft, mostly from skating rinks. Three of the girls worked as a team, two of them watching while the third did the stealing. These three were committed to the care of the State until they reach the age of 21. A fourth girl, only ten years old, was placed under the supervision of the child welfare officer for three years. The magistrate said that the parents had not looked after the girls at all.
