WEATHER OVER WEEK-END

Rain Falls in All Four Centres

In the main Wellington experienced a fine week-end. Saturday, was fine all day, although a northerly wind blew with varying force. Yesterday was bright and sunny until just before 5 o’clock, when a southerly, accompanied by heavy rain, sprang up. The temperature dropped appreciably. and the conditions were more reminiscent of winter than of November. For the 48 hours ended at midnight last night 42 points of rain was registered in “The Diminion’s rain gauge. Ti.e weather continued boisterous and unsettled at Auckland. There was a temporary improvement in the conditions on Saturday, afternoon and evening being fine, but heavy showers fol] during the night. Yesterday afternoon a westerly wind was blowing in frequent squalls, accompanied by heavy showers. After falling since Saturday morning the barometer registered 29.35 in. A heavy rainstorm began at Christchurch at about noon yesterday, mid con- ' tinned with a cold south-west wind. On Saturday morning, the weather was overcast but dry: in the afternoon the sun shone warmly. The barometer was 29.8 and was rising.
