Residents’ Objections Objections against the Sydney Street traffic deviation scheme received the attention of the Minister of Public Works, Hon. W. B. Taverner, on Saturday morning. The prosecution of the work involves the taking of land under the Public Works Act, and certain residents whose properties are affected have protested against the scherAe. Air. Taverner stated on Saturday that notice of intention to take land under the Act was issued by the Public Works Department at the request of the Wellington City Council, However, an objection had been raised to the issuing of the formal Order-in-Council. After legal advice had been taken, the department had decided to allow the objectors one month in which to lodge an injunction restraining the council from going ahead with the work.
