Butter Weak at 104/108/CHEESE QUIET AT 67/73/Lust week the London market showed a further fall of 3/- to 6/- a cwt. in the price of New Zealand salted butter, which was quoted on Friday at the low level of 194/to 108/-. Australian showed a decline of 4/-, and Danish of 2/- a cwt. on the week. The price of New Zealand salted butter to-day is from 65/- to 66/- a cwt. below that of twelve 'months ago. New Zealand unsalted butter dropped 2/- a cwt. last week, and is selling at 40/- to 42/- a cwt. less than a year ago. 1 The Dairy Board's report from its London office describes the market as weak and irregular. The retail price of New Zealand butter has been reduced to 1/2 a lb. that for Danish being unchanged at 1/5. Private advices state that whereas the normal consumption of butter in Britain is 6000 tons a week, it has gone up to over 7000 tons since the retail price was cut to 1/2 to 1/3 a lb. That the butter has been going into consumption fairly rapidly is shown by the Dairy Board’s reports of deliveries and stocks in London. The deliveries in recent weeks have been higher than a year ago, while stocks of New Zealand butter in London, which were nearly 19,500 tons at the beginning of September, have steadily declined. Last ' Thursday they totalled 3466 tons, or 1058 tons less than at the corresponding date of last year. The Empire Marketing Board’s estimate of stocks of all butters as at November 15 was 438,361 boxes, which compares with previous dates as follows: — Boxes. Deliveries and Stocks. Deliveries iof N.Z. butter for the week were 1631 tons, as against 1461 tons a year ago. The quantity in store was 3466 tons, as compared with 4524 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter for the week were 24,665 boxes, as against 21,491 boxes a year ago. The quantity in stock was 24,057 boxes, as compared with 24,724 boxes a year ago. Deliveries of N.Z. cneese for the week were 11,325 crates, as against 14,331 crates a year ago. The quantity In store was 29,417 crates, as compared with 23,414 crates a year ago. , Deliveries of Canadian cheese for the week were 14,626 boxes, as against 24,804 boxes a year ago. The quantity in store was 261,235 boxes, as compared with 202,833 boxes a year ago. Steady Decline in Butter, The New Zealand Producers' Co-operative Marketing Association, Ltd., weekly cabled market report from London, dated November 21, is as follows:—Butter: Market: is weak and prices have steadily declined during the week.
