200-YEAR-OLD PROPHECY

Success and Romance Foretold in Every Detail

How a 200-year-old prophecy concerning a former Birmingham family has come true was related to a “Sunday Chronicle” correspondent by Mr. Robert Alantyre, of New York, son of a Birmingham man of the same name who settled in the United States, 50 years ago. Among papers taken to America I y Mr. Alantyre’s father were some old writings of Mrs. Ann Ellison, an ancestress. These were miscellaneous prophecies, one of which said that a son of her house” would be driven to seek his fortune in “a new land. After a period of adversity, the prophecy continued, the son of the house” would acquire much wealth and would be a controller of men. His son would be a soldier and would l be “sore hurt” in wars in foreign countries. Finally, he would marry a descendant of the Ellison 'family and would return to England. “It is really amazing how this prophecy has come true in every detail, Mr. Alantyre told me. “My father went

to America because he could not earn a living in England. He was very successful in New York, and founded a business which at one time employed 4000 men. “Thus he was ‘a controller of men. I joined the American Army in 1917, went to France,, and was badly wounded, thereby fulfilling some more of the prophecies. I recovered, however, and returned to America, where I now carry on my father’s business. My father died in 1914. “In 1922 I met a Miss Joan Allison, whom, I learned, was descended from a family who came originally from Birmingham. After our marriage three years ago my wife and I tried unsuccessfullv to trace a connection between her family and mine, but there is enough similarity between the names Ellison and Allison to suggest a link in the distant past. If this is so, the fact that we are once more in England —it is my first visit —means that the prophecy has come true in every detail”
