Entertaining Programme
An. entertaining progra.mme of dramatic, vocal and musical items was presented by the boys, of Wellington College to a capacity house at the Blue Triangle Hall last .evening. - The proceeds of the concert are to go toward the improvement of the college gro.unds and buildings. All the artists acquitted, themselves with the utmost skill and the programme lost nothing by comparison with previous entertainments giveu by. the college.
The chief items were three short comedy playettes. The first, “Catherine Parr,” was historical, and based on the quarrel scene between Henry VIII and Catherine. The part Catherine Parr was taken by M. F. Wright, that of Henry VIII by H. C. Middlebrook, while B. R. Harewood filled the role of the page. “Spreading the News,” an amusing scene based on life in an Irish village, was well anted, the cast consisting of R. F. Norgate, B. A. Fortune, A. Armour, K. Sime, T. D. C. Childs, R. W. Gilbert, P. N. Verchaffelt, V. A. F’ordhain, H. J. Shield, and W. ; J, ■ Shirtcliffe. The third play, “The Ghost of Jerry Bundler,” centred around a discussion on ghosts by a gathering, of commercial, travellers at an -English- inn. The characters were taken by H. C. Middlebrook, A. C. McClelland; A. P. Thompson, D. G. Edgar, M.' D. Elias, B. A. Fortune, and R. W. Brockman. Popular items on the programme were songs by Mr. T. G. Hislop, Mr. D. L. Irwin, and K. A. Moore, a violin solo by Mr. W. V. Jones, and a flute solo by Mr. D. K. Thompson; a pianoforte duet by H. J. Shield and K. A. Moore, choruses by the College Glee Club, and selections by the College,’Orchestra completed, a. fine programme. Mrs. D. L. Irwin was. the accompanlste. - ' ' ./
