NAVY LEAGUE PRIZES
Essay Competition Results
Essay competitions conducted by the Wellington Navy League for the 1930 Palmer Prizes have now been judged by the examiners, Captain T. H. Chudley, Commander A. Varian and Messrs. W. Perry, A. E. Brown and R. Darroch. The senior subject was “The London Naval Treaty, 1930,” and the junior subject “What the Navy has Done for New Zealand.” The senior prize for boys was won by A. D. Gibson, of Waitaid Boys’ High School, Oamaru, and the senior prize for girls by Nancy K. Caughley, of Wellington Girls’ College. The winner ot the junior boys (secondary) competition was John Carpenter Dellow, of Wellington College, but in the case of the junior girls (secondary) competition no award was made. The junior boys’ (primary) competition was won by Allan H. Main, of Waitaki Boys’ Junior High School, Oamaru, and the winner of the junior girls’ (primary) essay was Inez Pinwill, of Elmwood School, Christchurch.
