FERGUSSON—DUGDALE.

The marriage took place at St. Columba’s, Pont Street, London, on July 17, of Mr. James Fergusson, eldest son of General Sir Charles Fergusson, of Kilkerran, Maybole, Ayrshire, and Lady Alice Fergusson, and Miss Louise 1 rances Balfour Stratford Dugdale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Dugdale, of 1 Roland Gardens, S.W. The Rev. Archibald Fleming. D.D., officiated, assisted by the Rev. G. W. Walker (minister of St. Machar’s, Dailly, Ayrshire). , The bride wore an oyster-coloured satin gown trimmed with old lace (lent by the Balfour family).' Her veil of old Brussels lace (lent by Lady Alice Fergusson) was held iu place by a wreath of real orange blossoms, and she carried a sheat ot regalia lilies. Her ornaments were a string of pearls (the gift of her uncle), and a pearl and diamond pendant (given by Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson). Two small boys, John Dugdale (son ot Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dugdale), and Peter Boyle (son of Air-Commodore the Hon. J. Boyle and Mrs. Boyle), wearing pink corded silk shorts and shirts to match, carried the train. They were followed by three child bridesmaids, Miss Dorothea Haviland (daughter of Major and Mrs. Haviland). Miss Susan and Miss M. Dugdale. The adult bridesmaids were Lady Anne Gathorne Hardy (daughter of Dorothy Countess of Cranbrook, cousin of the bridegroom), the Hod. Daphne Strutt (daughter of Lord and Lady Rayleigh), Miss Alice Walter, Miss Mary Loder (daughter of Mr. G. W. FL and Lady. Louise Loder, Miss Elizabeth Milne, .(daughter of Colonel and Mrs. Milne). Lady Kathleen Balfour (daughter of Ear] and Countess of Balfour). They were dressed in very pale pink georgette, with flower wreaths. The children were in long frocks of the same fabric and tone. Each carried a spray of blue, delphiniums, and wore a necklace of coloured beads (from the bridegroom). Lieut. S. C. D. Fergusson, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, attended his brother .as best man. The ushers were the Hon. John Strutt, the Hon. Charles Strutt, the Hon. A. Gathorne Hardy, Mr. John Boyle. Mr. Edward Boyle, Mr. Bernard Fergusson (brother), Mr. Michael Dugdale. The church was beautifully decorated with hydrangeas in a variety of shades with tall palms. The reception was held by Mrs. Dugdale at 2 Bryanston Square, lent by Lady George Campbell (great-aunt of the Lady Alice- Fergusson was in ligli. blue georgette, with hat of darker shade; Mrs. Dugdale wore pale biscuittinted lace, with brown lace hat. The" bride and bridegroom left later for Terling Place, lent by ■ Lord and Lady Rayleigh. They will make a tour in Iceland. Their future, home will be in Edinburgh. Mrs. Fergusson wore a dress of wine-red silk, with white spots, coatee, and hat to match. H.R.H. Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, sent the bride, who is her goddaughter, an amethyst and diamond pendant and brooch, and a diamond and ruby necklace. She also received an emerald and diamond necklace and pendant from the Dowager Lady Rayleigh; al silver ship centrepiece from the employees and friends on Kilkerran estate: and from the tenantry on Kilkerran estate a cheque to be spent on a portrait of the bridegroom. Many New Zealanders were present at the wedding, including Mrs. Vernon Reed, ■Mrs. lan Duncan, Miss Skerrctt. Mrs.. C. Kebbell, Dr. and Mrs. Hardwi'ck Smith, and Mrs. Noel Blakiston.
