A BANNED FILM
“All Quiet on Western Front”
The ban placed on the screening in New Zealand of “All Quiet on the Western Front” was referred to by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, when replying in the House ot Representatives yesterday to the Kev. C L. Carr (Lab., Timaru), who had requested reconsideration of the censors decision. , , , Mr. de la Perrelle stated that the film was examined by the censor on June 18, and, after consideration, _ was rejected. An appeal against this decision was lodged as provided for under the Kinematograph Films Act, 1928. The Appeal Board was appointed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, and consisted of a chairman and two women, one of whom was nominated by the associated film interests. This board viewed the film on July 11 and decided to uphold the decision of the censor. “The representations of a deputation of members of Parliament regarding the picture are under consideration,” added the Minister.
