SPEED BY-LAWS
Eastbourne Reduction Shere has been a delay in approving the Eastbourne Borough Speed By-laws by the Transport Department for the reason that the Borough Council wanted the speed on all streets other than the main street, reduced to 15 miles an hour. The Council, in asking for tho reduction, stated that the raising of the speed limit in all streets to 25 miles an hour would constitute a real danger to the public on account of the proximity of such streets to the beaches, which were used us play areas for numerous children. Another reason was the thickly populated areas surrounding such streets and the shortness of the streets themselves. It was stated at last night’s meeting of the Council by the Mayor .Mr. H. M. Jones) that the department would probably accede to the Council’s request for the reasons given.
