( WOMEN DECEIVED Plea for Leniency Fails Dominion Special Service. Auckland, June 13. A story of a married man’s heartless deception was told at the Police Court tills’ morning when Ceci! Granville, 41 years of age, a bookbinder, with two aliases, appeared and pleaded guilty to charges of obtaining from a man at Waikino on December 10, 1927, £25 by falsely representing that he Was a member of the firm of G. A. Granville, Ltd, of Sydney, and obtaining £3 wwas falsely representing that he was employed by a well-known Auck land firm.

No doubt lie knew that the police were looking for him, and he went to Australia. He has not been back here very long. Since ho returned we. have had complaints about him concerning marriageable women in Australia. Judging by a letter which we found on him he got £5O from one Sydney woman for the expenses of ■ a wedding.” , .. " Accused is a married man whose wife and three children fire in Auckland. There is no doubt.that he has been living on these women in Australia. _ That seems to be his chief mode of living. Mr. F. K. Htint, S.M.: He is going on with the same thing now. “Evidently,” replied Mr. Hammond. Mr. Webb said one offence was committed three years ago. J “Accused lodged jewellery as security, although he admits that he misled them about where he was getting the money from to repay them. Granville now desires to make good, and has come back to his wife and family. I would therefore ask your Worship to give him another chance.” ' “He has been up to the same thing in Australia, and has come back to dodge these women,” said the Magistrate, who sentenced Granville to six months imprisonment.
