SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
Training of Teachers The Sunday School Union met on Thursday. Mr. W. E. Howe (presdent) was in the chair, and 27 delegates were present. The Rev. E. P. Blamires, Director of Youth Work id the Methodist Church, discussed the matter of teacher training. He said that it was hoped very soon to have throughout the Dominion a very thorough system of training for all classes of teachers. The committee decided to have a series of eight classes, four of these to be conducted by Mr. Blamires. The deputation appointed to interview the young men’s and young women’s interBible class movement reported favourably upon the reception which it had received, and stated that there was every likelihood of there being very much closer cooperation between Bible 'classes and Sunday schools. Much time was given to the discussion of the best method of commemorating the union’s jubilee, which happens to come in the same year at the third jubilee of the founding of Sunday schools by Robert Raikes. It was decided to have a number of shields for competition between the schools a’t the annual examination and to endeavour to arrange for one or more public gatherings. . The Palmerston North sub;union is to be asked to take some special steps to observe the third jubilee of the founding of Sunday schools.
