“JERSEY WEEK ”
• GOOD SALES EXPECTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. New Plymouth, June 5. Even though there may be an economic depression in the country, certain optimism for the future of the dairying Industry is indicated by the prices obtained at the series of Jersey cattle sales which have filled ‘'Jersey Week” and will extend to near a fortnight. The record for tlie series so far was reached to-day at the dispersal of Jtr. J. H. Street's Oakvale Stud, Bell Block, when the six-year cow Oakvale Nettie- was purchased by Messrs. T. and A. Smith, Otorohanga, for 3521 guineas. Four cows under test realised 7G5 guineas, thirty cows averaged Gil guineas, and the whole herd of cows, bulls, and heifers averaged •10 guineas. Earlier in the week .Mr. G. TI. Bell, Oakurn. sold the cow Pinewoods Violet for 275 guineas. Throughout the week many buyers have been present from all over the North Island.
