THE KING’S BIRTHDAY TOURNEY. ‘‘On behalf of many disappointed basketball players,” writes a correspondent, “Executive,” “I wish to voice strong disapproval of the actions of the Wellington Basketball Association in postponing the June 3 seven a side tournament ou account of the doubtfulness of tlio weather, the postponement decision being given far too early in the day when there was a possibility of the. weather conditions improving. Then, again, to expect some six hundred odd players to ring up a certain telephone number (which, by the way, was wrongly published in the papers) to ascertain whether the tournament was to be held or uot, was expecting far too much of the players. The decision given at 8.30 a.m. that there would lie no play made no allowance for what the weather conditions would be at 10 a.m., showing no foresight in the event of the weather improving, say, an hour or two after the time announced for the commencement of the play. Thus the tournament proved n farce, with many disappointed players going to the play-fields unaware of tbo postponement, or otherwise -the cancellation o£ the tournament.”-
