A TAME FIGHT
PEARCE DEFEATS GEAR Bv Tclegrapn.— Press Association Blenheim, May 15. W. Pearce, of Wellington, gained the decision over C. Gear, of Blenheim, in a 10-round light-heavy boxing contest to-night. Both were making their debut in the professional ring. The bout was not particularly thrilling. Both fought hard all the way. but showed the lack of recent fights. Pearce proved a shifty target, displaying superior footwork and general ringcraft. Gear persistently took the fight to his opponent, and a section of the crowd considered he had wou.
