A KIPLING SOCIETY

AIMS AND OBJECTS. How many people in New Zealand can claim to have been schoolmates of Rudyard Kipling. According Io a circular received by “The Dominion” from the Kipling Society, which was founded in 1927. and which has uow enrolled nearly 1000 members in the United Kingdom, it is hoped to trace as many as possible of Kipling's schoolmates so that the fourth annual luncheon to be held in London on June 11 may give the opportunity of a reunion, cither personally or by means of letters. Kipling’s public honours have included degrees"from the Universities of England, Scotland, Canada and France, and the coveted Nobel Prize for literature. But he possibly treasures more highly the spontaneous allegiance that men of every type mid calling have sworn to him wherever the English language is spoken and understood. The aims and objects of the Kipling

Society are “To read papers and hold discussions upon Kipling's writings; to circulate promptly, information among members of any occasional verses, etc., written by Kipling, which otherwise might escape their notice; Io form a complete Kipling library (including curly, out-of-date works mid the many books that have been published dealing with Kipling and his writings) for the convenience of members; to issue a periodical dealing with the proceedings of the society, and containing other matters of interest ; to do belated honour 10, mid to exend the influence of the most patriotic, virile mid imaginative of writers, who upholds the idea of the English-speaking world.” The general secretary is Colonel C.
