DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRY HIS EXCELLENCY’S LEAD Dominion Special Service Auckland, May 15The need of developing the farm lands of the Dominion, and at the same time supporting New Zealand industries as much as possible, was stressed bv the Governor-General, Loid Bledisloe, in addressing members of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to-dav. During his speech his Excellency' drew a parallel between the state of the cotton industry in Lancashire and the tfool Industry in New Zealand. He appealed to everyone to buy New Zealand-made woollen goods, and promised that Government House would lead the way. "I should like to impress this particularly on the mind of the urban population,” he said. 1 hope to see vour secondary industries develop and prosper, but the countryside must not bo depleted In the process. The drift from country to town must be checked by the use of personal enterprise, lab-our-saving machinery, up-to-date methods, and the application of scientific principles, as far as is economically prudent in relation to pa toral pursuits. You may be sure that not they only, but your secondary industries also will derive commercial advantage.” _
