FLOOD PROTECTION
WAIRARAPA MOVEMENT Dominion Special Service. Masterton, April .11. It is proposed to have an aerial kincmatograph picture taken of the lower Wairarapa district from Pirinoa to Lake Ferry as the first step iu forming a plan for flood protection. A committee, to be called the South Wnirarapa Flood Prevention Committee, is now in process of formation, and its progress was reported on by tlie secretary of tlie Wairarapa Farmers’ Union (Mr. James Watson) at tlie annual meeting of the Pirinoa branch. The committee discussed at length the various aspects of flood protection and flood warnings and the scheme put forward to have an aerial kinematograph picture taken received enthusiastic support. By this means it is thought that the general public will appreciate better the flood problems of the district than by maps and survey plans. Mr. E. E. Holmes, who is nt present on a visit to England, is to be asked to act in conjunction with Mr. J. McMaster as the Pirinoa delegate on the committee.
